What's it about? Orphan Meryt-Re lives with her
uncle and aunt, sister of her father, in what is now called Deir el
Medina; in ancient Egypt, this village, then called Set Maat, was where
the families who built the pharaohs' tombs lived. In this village of
stonecutters, painters, scribes, embalmers and other workers on the
tombs, people lived as they had for centuries and depended on truth and
justice to keep peace...
Why it's a good read? Meryt-Re discovers she has a
talent for dreaming the truth. When she is cast out by her family, she
is befriended by Teti, the village wise woman, who helps Meryt-Re
understand these dreams, thus bringing the truth to light and helping
her family...
